Paracetamol
and Codeine
Paracetamol is another name for acetaminophen otherwise known as
Tylenol. The name paracetamol is used more in Europe and other parts
of the world than in North America.
In
Europe paracetamol is found under the brand name Panadol. Subsequently
paracetamol with codeine is also known as Panadeine and is
the same as Tylenol No.3 when the quantities of codeine and paracetamol
in the composition are equal.
Paracetamol
unlike Aspirin does not have the capability of treating inflammations
caused by arthritis though it does help the pain in such cases.
Paracetamol does help with fever.
Paracetamol
on its own is available as Panadol without a prescription but one
is required for buying Paracetamol with Codeine in the majority
of locations. Several countries allow the sale of such pain compositions
without the need for a prescription.
