Acetaminophen is the chemical name for the popular brand name otherwise
known as Tylenol. Combined with Codeine it is used to treat mild
to moderate pain in pill or capsule form.
According
to general guidelines one dose should be taken every six hours.
Side effects that could happen include stomach upsets and drowsiness.
What
is very important to know about the use of Acetaminophen is that
a huge daily dose exceeding 4000 mg could damage the liver. This
is why Ibuprofen can be prescribed as an alternative, it is considered
gentler on the body's system that Acetaminophen and can be found
in combinations with codeine such as the brand name Codifen.
